FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE

Because we know how hard it can be when you’re not working, down to one income or working reduced hours during treatment, we have allocated a special fund for emergency financial assistance. Whether you need help with travel costs, groceries, utility bills or those pricey specialised bras… fear not as there is somewhere to turn.

To be eligible for our SP Emergency Financial Assistance you must be a young woman aged 20-45 and have received a diagnosis of breast cancer for which you are in active treatment* (undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, surgery) or within 12 months of your last active treatment* (undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, surgery) and be resident in New Zealand. In order to distribute funds fairly, individuals may only receive these grants once, and they all hold there own one off grant maximum cover.

*this does not include ongoing hormonal therapies (e.g. Zoladex, aromatase inhibitors or tamoxifen)

Payments provided by Shocking Pink will only be made directly to the service provider or given as vouchers and we will provide assistance towards the following:

​

  • MTA Petrol vouchers

  • Pak n Save, Countdown or New World vouchers

  • Specialist mastectomy bras, swimwear and prosthesis

  • Course/seminar fees and travel costs if related to breast cancer (e.g. breast cancer conferences, retreats etc)

  • Utility Bills (telephone, electricity, gas) with evidence of outstanding payment

  • Areola repigmentation

  • Lymphedema garments

(Please note Shocking Pink is not able to provide assistance towards rent or mortgage payments, credit cards, hire purchases, leases or any other finance agreement payments)
